Prepare for the New Year!

Today is the last day of 2012 and that means you need to start thinking about your resolutions! You need to be prepared with your goals when that ball drops tonight and we here at the Spice Hut are here to help. Some of the most popular resolutions are to lose weight, to start exercising, and to cook at home more; generally to lead a healthier lifestyle.

The hardest thing about keeping a weight loss resolution is the diet. Your diet is also the most important component. You can check out last weeks blog about weight loss teas, but today we will focus on how to spice up your post holiday diet with…spices! We’ve been on enough diets to know that most of them are bland and boring and we don’t stick with them because of the lack of variety and flavor. This is where our spices come in. Our spices are all super-low calorie so you don’t have to feel guilty about adding them to your dish.
For beginners, we recommend picking up some Luigi’s Italiano or some Fisherman’s Choice spice blends. These two blends can really be put into anything to enhance the flavor. Perfect for chicken and fish, just try experimenting; you cant go wrong.
If you want to add a little heat and a lot of flavor, grab some chipotle flakes. If you are unfamiliar with chipotle, it is simply a dried and smoked jalapeno. It has a rich and smokey flavor with a little bit of heat. Chipotle flakes are great on egg whites, chicken, lean beef, pork, rice, and almost anything you can think of. If you want more heat go with some marash pepper or the cayenne 40 or cayenne 90.
